Black gnat parachute fly covers just about any black fly that is found on the surface of any British still water. Early season chironomids, hawthorn flies and dark sedges, all are imitated by this pattern. Besides being a reliable still water fly this black gnat parachute type is very good on Northern and Welsh rivers, being very visible when in rough stream water.
